On Roe v Wade: Life Under Authoritarian Minority Rule

Monday night I was on Twitter, minding my own business and looking at pictures from the Met Gala arrivals.  Lizzo had just tweeted a picture on her way to the ball, and she looked so amazing.  And then Politico released this breaking news.

Supreme Court has voted to overturn abortion rights, draft opinion shows

“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” Justice Alito writes in an initial majority draft circulated inside the court."

And I stopped looking at Gala pictures.  I guess you really can't afford to get distracted in these times, you know?  Forget sipping wine and trying to relax online. 

Okay, so, what now?  Well, abortion becomes illegal immediately in 13 states.

"Antiabortion lawmakers have long hoped for a day when the Supreme Court might overturn Roe v. Wade. Rather than wait for that moment, 13 state legislatures have passed laws that would become enforceable immediately or soon after the court overturns the precedent. Some laws, such as those in South Dakota and Louisiana, have been on the books for more than 15 years, but most, including the bills in Arkansas, Kentucky and Idaho, passed during the Trump administration, when the Senate confirmed three conservative justices to the Supreme Court — Neil M. Gorsuch, Brett M. Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett." Link

Four states, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin and West Virginia, don't have trigger laws, but have kept pre-Roe abortion bans on the book.  So abortion immediately becomes illegal there too.

I'm not sure how relevant the above information is.  For example, Florida currently has no trigger law.  How long does it take DeSantis to turn his attention from fighting Mickey Mouse to women?  We have a crop of literally insane far-right, authoritarian GOP governors, and they are going to make hay whilst the sun is shining.  You can bet on that.  Worse, they will attempt to outdo each other.

Texas has already empowered private citizens to hunt down women they suspect had an abortion and collect a ten thousand dollar bounty.  How will DeSantis outdo Abbott?  I don't know, but you can bet he will.   Many states will outlaw abortion even in cases of rape or the mother's life being in danger.  Oh, we are going to be looking at the world's ugliest beauty pageant as these lunatics preen and stick their asses in the air cooing "pick me pick me".

In New York, I return to the married white woman suburban voter.  I have known many  in my life who "lean Republican".  This means they vote Republican across the ballot ever single time btw.  Over the years, I have lost count of how many of them have told me the Republicans would never overturn Roe.  Do they really believe this?  I don't know.  I do know they saw a man who paints himself orange, sprays his hair into an exaggerated, cartoonish ducktail, is on record as having said "women, you have to treat them like shit", is on tape admitting to serial sexual assault (grab em by the pussy), is very credibly accused of raping a woman in the dressing room of Bergdorf Goodman's, and thought they saw GOD ALMIGHTY himself.  I mean, if that's not grounds for being institutionalized, I don't know what is. 

Trump is also on tape during the 2016 campaign, telling Chris Matthews he wanted to outlaw abortion and that there "would have to be some punishment for the woman" having the abortion.

And they ran their asses out to vote for him, so...did they ever believe Republicans "would never" overturn Roe v Wade?

It probably depends on the variety of idiot you are talking about.  Some of them want Roe overturned.  Others are pro-choice, so maybe they were lying to themselves about what Republicans would or would not do.  In which case:

 

These are the women, and they do exist, I have known them and know some now, who may influence the 2022 midterms.  That remains to be seen, because IMO it is mostly racial.  They are terrified of minorities killing or raping them or some shit.  Who really murders and rapes them and their daughters?  Their white husbands and white boyfriends of course.  But there are plenty of hucksters out there telling them who to fear.  Tucker Carlson comes to mind.  Actually the entire FOX lineup comes to mind. 

What about the women who wanted this?  Well, it's interesting cause I know them too.  Most of their husbands haven't kept it in their pants for 2 decades.  The women these men fuck are the "whores".  I know this straight from the horse's mouth.  So, what happens when one of these whores turns up preggo with hubby's baby?  

Yeah.

And btw, their hubbys aren't boning women their own age.  I had one tell me straight out, he wouldn't sleep with a woman his own age.  You probably think I'm making that up.  Like, who says that you are probably thinking?  I'm not making it up. His wife is his own age by the way, so that tells that story.  No, they're all doing extramarital sex with younger women.  Very fertile women.

Yeah. 

What happens when little Suzy makes a mistake, just a mistake, she's not like those other sluts in the clinic?

What happens when their blessed son Johnny (my son, my son!) knocks up his girlfriend who mama just knows is "trying to get her hooks in him"?

Yeah.

But they're in NY  so while they run their asses out to vote for whichever nutcase the GOP puts up for Governor, they live free by virtue of MY vote.

But but but...the GOP already has legislation drawn up to be passed and enacted if and when they should take the House, take the Senate, and then take the WH.

And that legislation will outlaw abortion at the federal level.  Goodbye state's rights.   Goodbye safe haven New York.

I really couldn't give a shit about these fools and their beyond-messy personal lives.  Whatever they get here, they earned.

I do give a shit about women and girls who didn't want this, didn't enable this, and who will suffer for it.

I have been reading first-person accounts on Twitter from women who were raped when they were children.  Most by family members.  Some by their own fathers.  And who were impregnated against their will.   

What happens when we go back to forcing children to bear children?

Incest and rape are not rare, nor are pregnancies resulting from such.  That they are rare is a fairytale told to you by the same men who just took away your right to control your own body and stamped "PROPERTY OF US GOVERNMENT" all over it.

You know, pre-Roe, you couldn't even pin these pregnancies on the perpetrator. Then came DNA.

So now everything is in play for these monsters.  The victim only need find ONE person who believes their story, and the DNA test comes out.

Do you know one of the leading causes of death for pregnant woman is murder?  And that's now.

What happens to the pregnant victims once daddy realizes he is going to prison if that baby comes to term?  And for a long, long time.

So many women and girls will suffer, have their lives destroyed, and also, die over this.

So what now, America?  What now. 

*I know the right wing is attempting to make the story the "outrage" of the leaked document, and that our media is duly carrying out their marching orders straight from Mitch McConnell.  Because these fuckers demand PRIVACY while drafting the language that will outlaw my privacy.  I don't give a fuck about that, or about all of the faux outrage over at FOX.  FUCK YOU.
